Coach Ryan Loder is the head assistant coach for San Francisco State, State Coach for California USA Wrestling, and USA Gold coach. Coach Loder is the owner of Apex Wrestling Academy where our mission is to BUILD BETTER PEOPLE THROUGH WRESTLING.

Ryan Loder grew up in Granite Bay, California, where he would travel all over to train with the best wrestlers. Most of the time there would not be a coach involved and it would just be live wrestling. There was no place that wrestlers could all come together and have great partners and a professional, accomplished coach that knew what it took to be the best. Apex Wrestling Academy is this place. Apex not only develops great wrestlers, but also great people. Our vision is to grow a wrestler from elementary through high school and prepare the wrestler for college as well as life.

While competing for University of Northern Iowa (UNI), Ryan Loder had the sixth (6th) highest winning percentage, ninth (9th) in overall victories with 114, and fifth (5th) for career dual wins with 50 for all UNI wrestlers. (UNI has more than 200 All-Americans, 41 national champions and 5 Olympians). A four-time NCAA tournament qualifier, Ryan was an All-American and a three-time top 12 finisher. He was also the Team Captain and three-time MVP for UNI Wrestling. After competing in college, Ryan turned his focus to the international style of wrestling where he placed sixth (6th) at the U.S. open. He also placed third (3rd) at the Universities and second (2nd) at the World team trials last-chance qualifier. He also coached the UNI wrestling team.

Ryan graduated from UNI in May 2014 with a BA in business administration and a certificate of entrepreneurship. He graduated with his MBA from UNI in 2017. Since 2009, Ryan’s experience in wrestling, coaching, and leading has involved:

  • San Francisco State Head Assistant Coach
  • USA Wrestling California State Coach

  • UNI Panther Wrestling Coach
  • USA Gold Wrestling Coach
